Sophie Habecker is a studio art undergraduate at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, specializing in sculpture and mixed media. Their work explores connection, communication, gravity, and the human form. They primarily use metals, wood, plaster, wax, and found objects, embracing the physicality of making through welding, grinding, and molding. Inspired by artists such as Senga Nengudi, Bruce Nauman, and Alexander Calder, their practice ranges from abstract to conceptual to figurative. Collaboration and dialogue are central to their process. Their work invites visceral responses and personal interpretation, creating a conversation between artist, material, and viewer.
